Xabier De Beristain Humphrey
Prior to founding De Beristain Wallace, Xabier worked at leading French and German banks in London, Paris and Madrid as well as at magic circle, international law firms Clifford Chance LLP and Allen Overy LLP.
Xabier’s international outlook is founded on his command of the four major European languages: English, French, German and Spanish.
He has extensive experience in handling multi-million pound commercial deals and corporate buy-outs.
Since the inception of De Beristain Wallace he has acted on a number of company asset and share purchases and sales valued from £2m to £20m.
John is an experienced and tenacious litigator, with particular sector specialisms in property, construction, fraud and football.
Prior to training and working at global law firm Eversheds in their London and Paris offices, John lectured in contract law at the Université de Bordeaux IV.
One of the founders and directors, and head of the litigation team, John regularly advises on high value construction disputes for developers, contractors and other stakeholders. He has many years’ experience of advising on complex multi-jurisdictional commercial frauds, from diversion to VAT carousels.
Within football, John advises players, agents, clubs and companies that provide services to the football sector.
Mark trained and qualified at Olswang LLP where he spent the first nine years of his career.
Specialising in the resolution of commercial disputes, Mark has a broad range of experience advising on contentious matters including general commercial contracts, public law challenges, shareholder disputes and insolvency litigation. Mark’s experience includes leading claims in the County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal.
Mark advises on the full litigation process from pre-litigation strategy through to trial, always seeking to obtain the best possible resolution for his clients.
Nicky advises both employers and senior leaders on all aspects of employment law and HR issues, across a wide range of sectors.
Nicky’s experience includes advising on the full spectrum of people-related matters from recruitment, service agreements and policies, through to day-to-day HR issues such as disciplinaries and grievances, stress and sickness absence and family-friendly rights. She also works on exit negotiations, settlement agreements and redundancy exercises. Nicky’s practice also encompasses providing advice in relation to cross-border issues, TUPE and Tribunal litigation.
After undertaking a Modern Languages degree at Leeds University, Nicky completed her Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School. She then trained and qualified into the employment law team at Eversheds LLP, and subsequently worked at Fox Williams LLP before joining De Beristain Wallace in December 2015.
Billy qualified as a solicitor in January 2017, and joined De Beristain Wallace soon after.
During his two-year training contract at Silverman Sherliker LLP, Billy gained valuable experience in the firm’s intellectual property, commercial and corporate departments.
Since starting at De Beristain Wallace, he has played a key role in developing the corporate law practice and has assisted on most matters that have come in to the team.
Isobel has previous experience working internationally with art and cultural event administration. She works as a PA to the Directors, and Administration Support to the whole team.
